Pimm's Cup

Do you have any English friends? I have discovered that they are good for three things:

1) A smart, witty sense of humor.

2) Keeping your ego in check with gentle reminders that they are smarter and wittier than you.

3) PIMM'S CUP!

Behind door #3 is an awesome, refreshing summer treat. Take a look at this beauty:

I styled it with my milk glass chicken to give it that English countryside vibe. Isn't it fancy?

Diablo Verde

The scene: Me in Greenpoint, watching B62 after B62 go by with nary a B43 in sight. It's 97 degrees. Nope, that's not a typo. Nearly 100! In Brooklyn! In early June!

To top it off, I'm wearing jeans. This is because, in my infinite, impulsive, no-foresight, space-seeking wisdom, at the beginning of last winter I gave all my shorts to charity, where they were auctioned off to raise money for global warming. Which is why I was in G-point to begin with — scouring the  stores on Manhattan Ave. for something — anything! — that would offer relief.

Hey, I'm not even picky! Peddle pushers, skorts, clam diggers...even gauchos will do. I know the 'hood and I know we ain't got no Barneys. Most of the stores around there are like the less attractive older sister of this weird store:

Anyhoo, it was slim pickens as usual, so I grabbed a bunch of ill-fitting, mostly synthetic shorts and ran out to catch a bus to meet my friend Jean at the Richardson for a cocktail.

Arnold Palmer

AHHHH! Nothing says summer quite like a good ole' Arnold Palmer. I have no idea why this drink is named after a golfer (and I'm too lazy right now to investigate), but it's super easy to make:

1/2 glass freshly brewed tea
1/2 glass lemonade (I recco Simply Lemonade)
Lots of ice

Stir it all together and it's better than a hole in one!

Matcha Tea

Once upon a time, at the turn of the century, in a bubble far far away, I worked at a boutique interactive agency ruled by Lady Alissa White. After that bubble burst into a million little worthless stocks and shares, there was a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth here in Silicon Alley. But rather than sit around crying over spilled VC money, Alissa packed her bags, moved out west (back home, to LA), and started Matcha Source tea company.

Now she sells beautiful green tea that looks like this:
Truly beautiful, but totally scary. So how did I make it work for me? Matcha recipe after the jump:
